URGENT: Help Push for Parkinson's Cure! 7 Minutes of Your Time Could Change Lives

Lawmakers in session

Problem:

We're so close to fast-tracking potential cures for Parkinson's disease, but we're stuck in bureaucratic limbo. The National Plan to End Parkinson's Act was signed into law - a significant victory! While progress has been made in research, we need our collective voice to overcome the bureaucratic roadblock.

What's missing? Leadership! The Secretary of Health & Human Services hasn't appointed anyone to lead this crucial initiative.

What this delay means:
  • No advisory council has been formed
  • No funding allocated
  • No progress toward identifying and fast-tracking promising cures (like the Johns Hopkins PFFNB2 treatment)

Subject: Urgent Action Needed - Implementation of National Plan to End Parkinson's Act

Dear Senator [or Congressman] [insert name here]
I am writing to you as a concerned constituent regarding the urgent need for action on
the National Plan to End Parkinson's Act
(https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/2365).

As you know, this vital legislation was signed into law on July 2, 2024, marking a
significant step forward in our nation's fight against Parkinson's disease.
However, critical next steps remain unrealized.

Specifically, I am deeply concerned that the Secretary of Health and Human Services
has yet to appoint a leader to spearhead this crucial initiative.
This delay is holding up the formation of the advisory council and, consequently, the
development and implementation of the strategic plan that could accelerate pathways to
a cure for Parkinson's disease.

The Act's primary goal is to identify and expedite the most promising cure candidates
for Parkinson's disease.
For the over one million Americans living with Parkinson's - and the 90,000 newly
diagnosed each year - every day of delay is a day too long.

I respectfully urge you to:

1) Contact the Secretary of HHS to emphasize the urgency of appointing a leader for
this initiative

2) Advocate for the swift formation of the advisory council as mandated by the Act

3) Push for timely allocation of funding to support the Act's implementation

The bipartisan support this Act received demonstrates our nation's commitment to ending
Parkinson.s disease.
Now, we need action to translate this commitment into tangible progress.

As my Senator [OR, Congressman], your voice carries significant weight.
Please use it to advocate for the 1.5 million Americans affected by Parkinson's disease
and their families.
Time is of the essence, and your intervention could help accelerate the path to better
treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.

I look forward to hearing about the steps you will take to help move this initiative forward.

Sincerely, [YOUR NAME]
